I made this tool specifically for marking out canted and double-canted dovetails; for instance when making drawers with sloping sides or front (or both!). In this situation, the fixed angle of a standard dove tail marker is useless and you need to revert to bevel gauges to mark the (two) angles of the pins, or tails. All of my bevel gauges were too big and unwieldy for marking out small dove tails.
